Off Chance by Sawyer Bennett

Off Chance by Sawyer Bennett

I love all Sawyer Bennett books and the men she gives us so I knew this one would not be a disappointment and I was right. I loved it and Flynn Caldwell. Who doesn't love a sexy fireman, though, right?

If you have read any of the other books in the Off Series then you know all of the boys- Nix, Linc, Ryan, Flynn, Cillian and the ladies Renner, Danny, Emily, Ever and now Rowan. They all make appearances in this book and they all intermingle in the others, but each book CAN be read as a stand alone and all have their own HEA- no cliffhangers! Woo hoo! Lol!

What I liked so much about Flynn was his hero complex- his need to save the damsel in distress and to be the guy that you need in your life. He helped Rowan not knowing who she was or where she came from just because he KNEW it was the right thing to do. His good heart and open arms for people make him hot, even before the six pack and the tattooed biceps. I just loved him. Rowan's fear of pain and rejection based on her jaded past with her parents and men in her life caused her to repeatedly push Flynn away, and sometimes I just wanted to choke her for leading him on only to shove him away and run every time they started to show real strides in their relationship. I locked myself away and read this all the way through in one sitting- it was just THAT good- I highly recommend it and obviously gave it 5 stars. <3 Kellie

Again this story gripped me from beginning to end. Through all the ups & downs. The hell Thalia & Grant went through- they survived. They fought & got through it. The story is deep & meaningful & grips your heart, you feel Thalia's pain. Also her Dad's pain after losing her years ago! If you enjoy a deep, heavily detailed storyline with passion this book is for you. <3 Amy

About the Author:
D.L. Roan lives and writes in her "beautifully wild and southern" home state of Florida with her "perfectly flawed hero" husband and two 80lb lap dogs.
In addition to exorcizing her characters' lusts, D.L. enjoys scuba diving, fishing, and sitting by a bonfire on a starry night.
Completely addicted to the written word, she's had a brood of characters residing inside her imagination for as long as she could remember. Being able to bring them to life and let them out to play has been a life's dream fulfilled.
Romance has always been her favorite. While erotica and ménage are her favored spicy flavors, she also enjoys paranormal fantasy and has been known to stalk the work of certain historical romance writers. "I like the innocence and complexity of the time."

Bedrock by Britney King

Bedrock by Britney King Review
This one was a shocker. I really liked it though! Lol! Although some of the book had events and addressed issues I cannot personally relate to, A LOT of it was exactly true to the lives of most people- making difficult decisions to protect and support your family finding love when and where you least expected it, having expectations of people that they cannot live up to....I felt a connection to these parts of the story. What touched home the most though was when Addison first became a mother and questioned her ability to be a good mother and thought something was wrong with her for not wanting to be at home with her children all the time by going back to work- I was there once. Addison has to make alot of painful and difficult decisions in this book and it reads like real life more than a fairy tale romance with flowers and happily ever after. I wanted a different outcome to be honest but I still liked this book very much and gave it four stars for a review. I hope there is more from Britney soon! <3 Kellie
Synopsis: When Addison Greyer, a happily married mother of three, decides to re-enter the workforce, she never once considers that taking a job might unravel everything she thinks to be true about her life—that it would cause her to look deep within and confront fears she didn’t know existed. She couldn’t have foreseen how a chance meeting or a single day can change the course of an entire lifetime. Like many women, Addison is defined in terms of marriage and motherhood, until she suddenly finds her life turned upside down by her husband’s decision to take a job thousands of miles away. When her tough-as-nails boss offers her an opportunity she can’t refuse, Addie is forced to make difficult choices. Those choices take her further and further out of the carefully crafted fairytale life she has created and lead her into an unknown world where things are anything but black and white: a world where she learns that desire is not only dangerous but deadly. In this world, all bets are off as she is forced to finally confront her past. As her past and present collide, she has to make decisions that for most are unthinkable, decisions that can tear her family apart, and perhaps even have fatal consequences. Bedrock is a love story designed to showcase how the choices we make ultimately shape our lives. It serves as a reminder that in the end what defines us is not the big events, the monumental occasions. It’s the tiny, seemingly inconsequential moments in between. It’s proof that time passes and we cannot, no matter how hard we try, get it back. Bedrock is a story of love and grief that pretty much sums up the context of the human experience. Due to heavy subject matter and sexual content this book is recommended for mature readers.

The Wager by Rachel Van Dyken

***CARRIE'S REVIEW***

I was so excited to read The Wager because I loved The Bet so much!

We get Jakes story. Jake is a playboy millionaire who we love to hate in the first book. I loved him in The Wager! I wondered who Jake would end up with and after a little help from Grandma we find out how! I loved her! I want to wrap her up and she can live with me. I laughed out loud so many times.

We meet Char who is coming to be the maid of honor in Kasey and Travis's wedding. Char isn't stupid she knows how Jake is, but can't stop herself. The chemistry between these two is HOT! The more they fight the hotter the scenes between them get.

Char and Jake go on this hysterical and, crazy ride while helping with the wedding. Can Char resist Jake after all this time or will she give in to how she really feels? Will Jake stay that playboy millionaire we all can't stand? You will love this story! I give The Wager 5 giant stars! It made me laugh, cry and wanting to read it so fast to see what would happen next!

Thank you Rachel Van Dyken! I loved this book so much! Please Send Grandma my way. I LOVE her!

****TEASER****

Dessert was served. Char chose a chocolate soufflé with whipped cream. The minute it was set in front of her, she saw Jake’s hungry gaze.
With a wicked smile she dipped her finger into the whipped cream and slowly licked it clean.
His mouth dropped open, just slightly.
She licked her lips and dipped her finger again.
Jake leaned forward, his eyes almost closing as his half-lidded gaze went from teasing to lustful.
Char wondered when was the last time the player had been played, or that he’d had to actually wait for something.
Carefully, she slipped out of her wedge heels and relaxed a little further down in her seat. Trying to act nonchalant, she took another bite of her dessert and watched Jake watch her. She knew the exact moment her foot came into contact with his leg. With a jerk, he grabbed the edge of the table and cursed.
“Everything all right, Jake?” Petunia asked, examining him through her glasses.
“Perfect,” he said in a strained voice. “A bit hot.” His hooded eyes blinked a few times before he reached for his water glass and took a long sip.
“It is quite humid out.” Petunia fanned herself. “But you look positively flushed. Are you sure you aren’t coming down with something?”
“I wish,” Jake said.
“Pardon?” Her brows furrowed.
“Pretty dish.” He pointed to the butter dish in the middle of the table.
Char bit her lip to keep from laughing; she took another slow bite of soufflé and licked her fork. Jake groaned across the table.
Her foot came into contact with his skin.
“Mother of—”
“Jake?” Petunia shook her head. “You have me worried.”
“Me too.” Char licked her lips and let her foot inch up his leg.
Jake braced both hands on the table, his eyes setting her on fire with how hard he was staring at her. “I’m sure.”
His eyes closed as she rubbed up and down his calf and then braced his one leg with both of hers, jerking him closer to the table.
“Shit.” He exhaled.
“I beg your pardon!” Petunia scolded. “Jake Titus, you stop your filthy language.”
“He’s such a dirty, dirty, boy,” Grandma agreed with a wink.
Jake groaned, his eyes pleading with Char to either stop or keep going and kill him right then and there.
“You know what happens to dirty boys,” Char said helpfully.
“What?” His voice was hoarse.
“They get spanked,” Petunia spat. “Hard!”
Jake swore a blue streak.
“Wescott!” Petunia demanded. “Please control your son! It seems he keeps having urges to use foul language at the dinner table! Well, in my day we’d send boys to their rooms if they did such a thing.”
“Fine.” Wescott rolled his eyes. “Go to your room, Jake, take your punishment like a man.”
“I, uh…” Jake sputtered. “Should probably stay right here.”
“You heard your father.” Petunia shook her head. “You need to be punished.”
“Please.” He whimpered and hung his head in his hands.
“Jake…” Char pulled her foot away and leaned forward. “You should probably listen to your father. Wouldn’t want you getting into any trouble… go to your room.”
“I can’t,” he said through clenched teeth.
Grandma pushed to her, feet knocking an entire pitcher of ice water into Jake’s lap. His eyes bulged out of his head as she leaned over so only he and Char could hear. “You’re welcome.”
“I want to die.” This from Jake.
“You clumsy boy, go change your pants,” Grandma ordered. “Char, why don’t you get us some more water from the kitchen?”
She didn’t have to be told twice.
Cursing, Jake threw down his napkin and chased after her.
Shoes off, she was able to run across the grass. Once she was in the house she stole a glance behind her. Jake was gaining on her. The look on his face was predatory.
With a squeal she ran up the stairs to the bedroom, just as his strong arms came around her, pushing her farther into the room.
“Naughty girl. I’ll make you pay for that.”
She turned in his arms and licked his chin like she had her soufflé. “You promise?”
“Strip.” He released her and walked over to the bed, slowly sinking down into it. “Now.”
“Demanding.” Char put her hands on her hips. “Aren’t we?”
“Yeah.” Jake leaned back on his elbows. “The way I see it, you owe me. Not only did I do a naughty dance for you, with chaps might I add, but you made me suffer through dessert, while my great aunt, the virgin one, you know her, told me I needed to be spanked.”
Char laughed.
“Not funny,” Jake groaned. “Most awkward moment of my life.”
“Before or after Grandma cooled you off?” Char asked.
“If you want me to be able to perform, ever, you won’t mention that again.” Jake swore.
Char fumbled with the straps of her dress. “I remember.”
“Remember?” Jake’s eyes were trained on her fingers as she toyed with the straps pulling them further down her body. “What do you remember?”
“Us.” Char let the dress fall to the ground and stepped out of it. “I remember our night together. I lied. I told Beth I didn’t. I told you it wasn’t good. I was just trying to make you feel bad.”
“Hmm.” Jake stood and slowly approached her. “I deserved it.”
“I know.”

Book Two in The Bet Series. Adult Contemporary Romance

THE WAGER

Lose a bet, lose your heart...

What is it about a junior-high crush that can send an otherwise intelligent woman into a tailspin? TV reporter Char Lynn wishes she knew. Jake Titus is too rich, too handsome, too arrogant: a trifecta that once lured Char into the best night-and worst morning-after-of her life. Now they've been thrown together in a wedding party. It's awkward, but survivable . . . until Jake stops acting like a jerk, and starts acting like the man she'd always hoped he could be.

If watching your brother marry your best friend is weird, being attracted to your best friend's other best friend is downright bizarre. Unfortunately for Jake, Char hasn't forgotten how he once tossed her aside. Worse still, Jake's already-nutty grandma is even crazier about Char. Cue meet-cute shenanigans and all manner of meddling, and somehow, Jake's falling. For Char. Now all he has to do is make her believe it . . .

The Bet (Book One) in The Bet Series

"I have a proposition for you." Kacey should have run the minute those words left Seattle millionaire Jake Titus's mouth. It's been years since Kacey's seen her childhood friend Jake, but the minute Jake mentions his ill grandmother, Kacey is ready to do anything for the sweet old woman. And if that means pretending they're engaged for her sake-so be it.

But Kacey wasn't counting on Jake's older brother Travis still being there. She calls him "Satan" for a reason: she's never forgotten the way he teased and taunted her. Yet when they meet again, Travis's gorgeous smile is a direct hit to her heart . . . and Kacey's more confused than ever. As the days pass, only one thing starts to become alarmingly clear-she never should have accepted Jake's deal . .

Fraternizing by C.C. Brown

Fraternizing by CC Brown

This was a whirlwind romance if I ever saw one between Pfc Cassie Bennett and Sgt. Alex Cruz. Hot sex, crazy exes, haunting pasts....it's all in here. In the span of just six weeks these two people who met by chance in a bar one night, become all the other needs to breathe. It is a quick, very intensely passionate read and although I did not find myself giving it five stars, it was mild stuff, like some parts of the snubbing of military life and rules and some of Cruz's unprofessional behavior kind of bothered me when he was SO adamant that the Marine Corps was his whle life and meant everything to him and because it ended with no resolution, and that I am kind of over, as it seems everyone's books now are a series with cliffhangers. Lol! That being said, I have to know how this story ends, as you canNOT help but fall in love and want to fight for this couple to make it, against all of the odds stacked against them. Well done CC- I gave you four stars babe. Looking forward to Book 2! I definitely recommend you overlook the tiny missteps and fall for the love story as it is the part to love about this book. <3 Kellie

Synopsis:
Intended for 18+. Strong sexual content, violence and vulgarity.

Sometimes rules must be broken.

Sometimes your beliefs are challenged.

Other times... you just have to follow your heart.

For Marine Corps Sgt. Alex Cruz, the Corps' rules and regulations have served as a blueprint for how he should live his life. In his mind, the way to maintaining proper conduct and order relied heavily on the ability of the individual to follow orders without question. Alex was that individual.

Until...

Pfc. Cassie Bennett.

She is brand new to the Corps, looking to cement a place in the world for herself after breaking free from the oppressive life she's lived with her mother. Making it in the Corps is her way of showing her mother that she is more than she thinks she is, while also proving to herself she can survive one of life's biggest challenges.

Both Alex and Cassie are tested when an intensely strong attraction develops between them. They feel it, they want it, but one thing stands in their way... The Marine Corps order on Fraternizing. Their lust filled thoughts, their strong and aching cravings for one another, and their conflicted minds lead them on a roller coaster of emotions and feelings that neither can ignore, no matter how hard they try.

Loyalties will be tested, hearts will be broken, and careers will hang in the balance. Can Alex and Cassie keep their forbidden relationship a secret, or will they lose it all by Fraternizing?

About the Author, CC Brown:

Just a book reading, writing loving, mommy and USMC wife! :)

I love to write, even if it isn't what is conventional and makes everyone feel giddy inside. I usually pull from dreams, or ideas that just thrust themselves into my head. I have what some would describe as a dry sense of humor, and I think its conveyed in my writing. I like to think I am a kick ass chick, but I can also be sensitive. I'm learning to grow thick skin, and in this field, it is definitely needed!
I won't put anything out that I am not absolutely proud of, but like E.L. James said, "I can't own people's reactions to it." Thanks for reading my work... I do appreciate it!

Carter Reed by Tijan

Carter Reed by Tijan

When Emma decided to skip the gym and go home early, little did she know her life would never be the same again? When she got home she found her roommate being raped by her boyfriend, there and then she had to decide to kill or be killed. There was no choice! She then went to the one person she was told to go to if she ever needed help... Carter Reed.

Carter Reed is part of the mob and was Emma’s brother best friend, He is intimidating, intense, sexy and downright loyal and protective to those he loves.

When starting this book I was hooked from the first chapter, I was really looking forward to finding out how Emma would deal with things, but I didn’t get to find that out as there was no insight as to how she felt or coped afterwards it felt like that was just ignored and she just moved on from it. although this is fictional I felt that there would have been some sort of emotional rollercoaster for Emma dealing with   what she done, she would have been tearing herself up inside even though the reason she done it was for the good, it still would have torn her apart. Also the way Emma was portrayed in the beginning was that she would do anything even kill for her friend, however later on in the book, she didn’t put up any sort of fight when she found out her friend wasn’t being protected she just carried on as normal. The relationship between Carter and Emma seemed very rushed, I loved the feelings they had for each other but was confused as it happened so quickly. I would have liked to have known more and see them build on the relationship, it felt emotionless at times and they hardly spent time together, but fell in love so quickly. There wasn’t much of a back story into Carter growing up and his feelings for Emma, which I hope there may be a second book that explains more of this. <3 Katie

Synopsis: Emma decided to skip the gym and went home early. It was the last easy decision she made because she found her roommate being raped by the boyfriend. She had two choices. Call the cops and be killed by his family’s mafia connections or kill him first and hope to survive. There was no choice to her. She killed the bastard first and went to the one person who could protect her. Carter Reed. He’s a weapon for the rivaling mafia family, but he’s also Emma’s secret. Not only was he best friends with her brother, but she’s the reason he became that weapon in the first place.

This book is not for the faint of heart.
