Mind-shattering orgasms? Double check.

Max Richfield made me forget myself. Forget all the reasons why I'd chosen to be alone for so long. I had goals. I needed stability. He brought chaos. I’d taken years erecting my walls. And with good reason, I would soon discover.

Now my inability to see beyond Max’s charm could cost me everything.

Trey touched her shoulder as he turned her over. “I thought I knew love until you came along Faith. You have the body of a goddess and you consume me with passion. I need all of you, Faith. Wicked Innocence by Missy Johnson

I enjoyed this book I mean who doesn't love rock stars, right?

It was a good read which kept you on the edge waiting for Saxon to find out what Micah is keeping from even though he doesn't know she has a secret. They hit if off right away when after a messed up first audition Micah gets the job with the band that Saxon is managing. I liked that even though she was younger than him she seemed older in her years, she put him in his place a few times. She clicked with her band which was a good thing for Micah because music was her life, the band goes on a two week tour and things heat up between Saxon and Micah even though the age gap worries Saxon. Little does he know how big an age gap!
They keep their relationship on the down low but in true book fashion something comes to light and threatens to destroy everything. My stomach knotted a little when Saxon found out about Micah but I'm also glad he wasn't a full arse to her and still put the band first.

Do they get their happy ever after and how long will it last now that Saxon Waite is back?

4 stars

(Healing Hearts #2)
Renee Dyer

Adriana Monroe had her life planned out.  She was going to marry Alex, have a house full of kids, and spend as much time as possible with their friends.  But, life had other plans.  Life stole Alex from her and Adriana grieved his loss so badly, when she had the chance to love again with Tucker Stavros, she couldn’t do it.  She was broken and felt her love for Alex would break Tucker, too.  So, she walked away.

Now, her heart is shattered and she’s mourning the loss of both men.

Tucker Stavros has lived his life looking for love.  After losing his mom at a young age and being abandoned by his dad, the only love he’s known is from his Grams.  His relationships have been disasters.  He’s never felt that spark… until he met Adriana Monroe.  Everything changed for him the second he saw her smile.  He didn’t care that she was grieving.  He didn’t care that she was broken.  He saw himself in her lost eyes.  He would have done anything to make her his.  Just when he thought they were becoming something special, she walked out of his life, crushing his heart.

Now, he’s alone, afraid he’ll never find anyone that makes him feel the way he felt for her.

Tragedy strikes and Tucker and Adriana find themselves thrown together once more.  Will she continue to protect him by staying away, or will she find that her heart will take what it wants?  Will Tucker shy away from her, or will he run to her and show her why they belong together?  Will they hide from each other, or will they walk into the unknown with their Eyes Wide Open knowing that in order to heal, you have to first be broken?

(Healing Hearts #1)
Renee Dyer

For Adriana Monroe life couldn’t get any better.  She has great friends, her photography business is booming and she married Alex, her childhood best friend.  Life is perfect.  It’s a fairy tale really.

But one night changes everything for her.

Suddenly she’s alone.  She’s afraid to trust and afraid to love.  Most of all she’s afraid she’s broken beyond repair.  Nightmares torment and haunt her every time she closes her eyes.

Will she ever be the same?

For Tucker Stavros it looks to the outside world like things come easy for him.  He’s gorgeous, rich, famous, has a hot girlfriend.  Hell, he’s a movie star.  If women aren’t trying to get with him then men are wishing they are him.  What they don’t see is the broken child hiding behind the smiles he fakes for the cameras.  They don’t see the man who wakes up drenched in sweat from his nightmares from a past he can’t escape.

Betrayal sends him running.

A chance encounter throws Tucker and Adriana together.  They try to fight their attraction for each other.  They feel they’re too broken for the other.

Will they continue to suffer in the hell of dreamland separately or will they find that Waking Up to real life together can be so much sweeter?

Review of Waking Up

Reading a story about a woman who has lost her husband is heart wrenching. Adriana struggles to let her late husband Alex go and her family and friends are worried for her. One day a sexy hot movie star turns up in her driveway, unable to turn the sexy Tucker Stavros away she offers to cook a meal for him. There is a underlining connection there but Adri refuses to see it or allow herself to feel it.
Tucker has been hurt and cheated on so he travels to clear his head. When he meets the very beautiful Adriana, he also senses the connection but feels she won't let him in. I had high hopes for them. Slowly they connect but not 100%, Adri is still clinging to Alex for dear life even though Tucker wants more from her. I really wanted to shake Adri and tell her to just let Tucker in. But on the other side I wanted to shake Tucker and tell him she isn't worth it. Talk about push and pull feelings. Her friends accept him and I loved the banter between them and how they accepted Tucker into their little crew. She hurts him more than she knows but Tucker sticks it out, until he has to go back to work. Adri takes their newly started relationship and crushes it by leaving him at the airport after a goodbye kiss.

I really hope that Adri lets him in, in the #2 book, they both deserve to be happy and fingers crossed it's with each other.

From a young age Renee Dyer had a love of writing, starting with a doodle pad at age four that soon turned into journals and later computer documents.  Poetry became short stories and short stories became a novel.  Although she's surrounded by males all day having three sons, a husband and a hyperactive chocolate lab, she still finds time to be all woman when she escapes into the fantasy of reading and writing romance.  That is, until she needs male perspective and garners eye rolling from her husband.  She's a true New Englander.  You'll find her screaming profanity at her TV while the Pats play and cuddling under blankets during the cold seasons (which is most of them) reading a good book.  To her snow is not a reason to shut things down, only a reason to slow down and admire the beauty.  Ask her questions and she'll answer them.  She's an open book, pun fully intended.
Find Me On:

Cover Reveal - Between Love & Lies by Jacqui Nelson

Coming: September 2014
In a town ruled by sin, will he earn her love or her lies?

Dodge City, Kansas – 1877

Sadie Sullivan lost everything when a herd of longhorn cattle bound for Dodge City trampled and destroyed her farm. Now she works in Dodge—one of the most wicked and lawless towns in the West—at the Northern Star saloon. But her survival in this new world of sin and violence depends on maintaining a secret so deadly it could end her life before the town of Dodge can.

The one man capable of unraveling all of Sadie's secrets is Noah Ballantyne, the Texan cattle rancher whose herd destroyed her home. Back in town and taking up the role of Deputy Marshall, Noah vows he won't leave until he's put things right. But with the Northern Star's owner unwilling to let her go and a rival rancher plotting to claim her for his own, things won't be easy...especially with Sadie resisting him every step of the way.
South of Dodge City, Kansas—May 1876
The cattle were destroying everything: the tiny apple tree she’d sheltered in the wagon during the long, sweltering journey from Virginia; the fence she’d devoted weeks to repairing over the winter with scraps of deadwood; the vegetable garden she’d sown during the first whisper of spring and painstakingly coaxed to life every heartbeat since.
All trampled, devoured, gone.

Sadie glared at the beasts, eyes burning with tears of hopeless rage. They were thin, ugly creatures, spindly legs culminating in cloven hooves, heads wielding heavy horns that twisted out of their skulls in long spikes. Texas longhorns, the Devil’s helpers. In the middle of them rode Lucifer himself, sent straight up from Hell to torment her and tear away everything she’d slaved to build.

She tracked the long-legged, solid-built cowboy as he steered his horse through the milling beasts, angling toward her and her father—and their sod house which, she realized with a jolt of dismay, was also in danger of being leveled by the heaving mass of cattle. The intruder, similar to all the other Texas drovers, was covered in a layer of trail dust so thick it hung on him like a second skin. But it was one of the only things he and the other men had in common.

While the rest hollered and cracked whips over the backs of the beasts in their charge—trying to persuade them to return to the trail—this man urged his mount through the river of hide and horn, making a beeline for her.
It infuriated her that he was so silent, that he could guide his horse with remarkably little effort. As the distance between them shortened, unease crept up her spine. His gaze was unwavering, never leaving her.

She swallowed, tightened her fingers around the ancient shotgun clutched at her side, and concentrated on her anger and frustration, transferring them from the longhorns to settle solely on him. She did not want him to come any closer. Yanking the shotgun up to her shoulder, she took aim. The cowboy straightened in his saddle but otherwise did not acknowledge her hostile action. Nor did he slacken his pace; if anything, he bore down on her even faster.

Damn him to hell. Her finger tightened on the trigger.

Something slammed down on her shotgun, pitching the rusted barrel earthward. The buckshot tore a savage gouge out of the clay in front of her, kicking up a cloud of dust. The blast rocked her and forced her to stumble back.

Her father’s red face inserted itself between her and the cowboy. With a curse, he jerked the weapon from her numb hands.

As she stood gawking at him, the cattle, spooked by the shotgun blast, bolted—fast and in every direction. Her father sprinted toward their lone plow horse, vaulted onto its back and galloped away from her and the cattle.

Typical. She shouldn’t have expected anything different from him. He’d thought only of securing his own safety. He’d abandoned her alone and unarmed in the center of the herd.

I’m going to be trampled. I’m going to die.
