Review - Out of the Box Series by Jennifer Theriot

Out of the Box Awakening by Jennifer Theriot Review
This was a wonderful read by Jennifer Theriot, first of all, it is a little more on the realistic side, as it

Ash and Olivia have an instant connection from the moment he picked her up from the airport. When he learns of Alan’s indiscretion, he is just the man to help Olivia pick up the pieces and move on with her life, making it her own.

This is a great journey of love, friendship, and awakening. I highly recommend this book; it was a refreshing change to read about “older” heroine. But don’t worry, if you are skeptical about reading a book with “older” main characters, don’t be, Ash and Olivia are definitely young at heart and have amazing, hot, sexy-time! You also get to meet Olivia and Ash’s children and their crazy friends. It is journey worth taking.

Out of the Box Regifted by Jennifer Theriot Review
Out of the Box Regifted is the second book in the Out of the Box Series by Jennifer Theriot. The story follows the relationship of Olivia and Ash as they embark on their new life together. This was a great follow up to book one. Olivia and Ash are beyond doubt, a great couple with amazing chemistry that will stay with you.

In book two Jennifer gives us a little more insight into all the characters lives (including Alan, their children, and the band) which is a nice touch. You also get a couple of curve balls thrown your way and I love when a book makes me think, “OMG”! One of my favorite parts to this book is the friendship that was formed between Olivia and Todd. It was nice to see that age and gender have no barriers when it comes to true friendship. I can’t wait to find out how the story continues in book three.

Review - The Inner Room by Claire Thompson

The Inner Room by Claire Thompson Review
This is not your typical love story. It's also a story about trust. It's a world that is still so unknown and misunderstood by many. Claire Thompson does an excellent job of showing the many sides of BDSM lifestyle.  Just when you think everything is perfect there's a dark twist.  A not unexpected turn. All in all a well written and beautiful story I read in one sitting. I will be looking for more from Ms. Thompson in the future.

Review - Letter's Home by Rebecca Brooke

Letter's Home by Rebecca Brooke Review
I was so excited to read this book!

Dani had it all, the perfect boyfriend, new job, and a new apartment. Dani and Nate's lives started some years ago as they went through life's journey together. It was perfect, until that day in college when Nate said he had joined the army, but as true love works, they stuck together.

Dani is Nate's world and he hates leaving her but he has been given dates to be deployed. Their world starts to crumble then in true love fashion, they take the next step together but the heartbreak is just around the corner.

Only been married for a short time and with Nate being so far away on a mission, Dani's world falls apart with just one knock on the door.
My heart totally broke in half for Dani, I had to stop reading so I could actually continue once the tears stopped! This story shows you how hard it is for an Army wife and how she has to learn to move on and love again.

Enter the very sweet Tanner, he served with Nate and they quickly become friends. Which leads to Tanner bringing Nate's letter home.
I liked that Dani and Tanner became friends before anything more, they helped eachother heal. Tanner was carrying guilt from Nate's death and I just wanted to hug the guy.

Their friendship grow into something more, but guilt and regret surface in Dani's heart and head. You could see the struggle she was having with herself and also you could see the pain she was causing sweet Tanner.

I was happy to see them get their happy ever after in this sweet sweet story!

Word Play by Amalie Silver Review
** spoiler alert ** The book started off a bit slow for me. I wasn't sure what to think once I got started. But then "Monica" meets Christoph, a hot erotica author and things heat up. They have a playful relationship despite the lie that's going on between them. Eight years ago they met at an authors event and had a one night stand. Lauren based her first book off their encounter. All throughout the book its back and forth between them. Playfulness, stubbornness, romance and heartbreak. That is until the end.....

Review - Cupid's Last Stand by Shauna Allen

Cupid's Last Stand by Shauna Allen Review
What a sweet love story. If you love a good love story where two teens fall in love over a summer and reconnect some years later? Then this is the book for you.

After ten years of getting over Tristan, Darby's world is tilted on its axel when he shows up as part of a repair crew after an earthquake rocks her small town. I loved how you could feel the love and stubbornness between them both. Darby for not wanting to fall for him again and Tristan for believing he doesn't deserve her after being left at the altar.

They slowly rebuild their friendship which leads to more, but again Tristan's personal issues sneak into his head and heart.
Darby knows what she wants but knows Tristan won't give her more so she ends it all.

Little did they both know that they had a little Angel Cupid watching over their every move, which I really liked, Michael was weirdly sweet. Bless him.

I did really like that after ten years apart that Tristan and Darby got their happy ever after.

I absolutely love Clay and Julia's story, it's sexy, sensual, sweet and dominating all at the same time. I loved how Clay worshiped Julia inside and outside if the bedroom.

They both have underlying issues with pride and trust and that is what gets in the way if their relationship in the end. I did feel for both of them, the author made you see from both their points of views, I didn't know who to root for? Julia for sticking with her pride and independence or Clay with is trust and lying issues.

I loved this book and I can't wait to see how their journey plays out.

What a great concept for a story and I can honestly say that of the thousands of books I have read this book was 100% original! I really liked Abigail's spunk and the accepting but protective nature of Matt. There were some simple plot points of the book that had me confused and rethinking Abigail's strong woman persona. This is the only reason I could only give four stars. Despite this I loved Abigail's story and was firmly planted in her corner from the start of the book! Highly recommended to any and all who like romance novels! This book is a hit!

Unspoken Promises by Gabbie S Duran Review
This book was an amazing and perfect follow-up to 'Unspoken Memories.' The relationship is special between Matt and Abigail and it's obvious to the reader from word one. Abigail's character was far more needy and less self assured in this novel. At times this made me want to reach through the book, smack her and tell her "to grow the hell up". I think I felt so strongly though because I was already looking at her like a sister! Gabbie Duran drew me into her characters and they became an extended family for the day that my world revolved around Abigail Adams. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good romance!! I really liked how this book ended.... with enough suspense to keep me curious but not a full blown cliff-hanger! It was a pleasure to read this book!!

Iron Cross600x900
synopsis
Too many penalties may leave the goal vulnerable without the IRON CROSS.
After overcoming a potentially career-ending concussion, Tyler Vanek, Dartmouth Cobras’ first line forward, couldn’t be happier with his life. Until his boyhood hero-worship for Raif Zovko, a newly acquired player, develops into more. His mistress, ‘Chicklet’ encourages him to explore his feelings, and with her enjoyment of toying with the powerful Dom, Tyler figures it might be fun.
Laura Tallent, a dedicated officer with the Halifax PD, and Chicklet’s first sub, is tired of Tyler’s fun disrupting the structure of her world. Devotion to her mistress kept her silent for two years, but a horrible case and more proof that Tyler is the worst sub in existence has her wondering how much better life would be if he was someone else’s problem. Someone like Raif.
Raif won’t deny the lust he feels for Tyler, but he refuses to play games with a young man who’s questioning his sexuality—he won’t be an experimental phase for an unruly submissive. But when Laura draws him into a plan to remove Tyler from her poly relationship with Chicklet, his protective instincts take over. He partners with Chicklet to protect Tyler and dig deeper into the reasons behind Laura’s scheming. Chicklet clearly loves her boy, she won’t let him go. And before long, Raif realizes neither can he.
Blindsided by the discord in her household, Chicklet struggles to fulfill her subs’ needs as their careers throw challenges at them all. Control is slipping from her hands, but with Raif by her side, she prays her relationships can be saved. Salvaging the future means rebuilding with a new foundation. But the only way to make the base solid is for them all to work together. And with all the secrecy and lies, she has no idea where to start.
Author’s Note: The Cobras series has a continuing arc about the franchise, players, and previous relationships. Some plots continue through the series and may involve more than the main ménage. The series is best read in order.

Dartmouth cobras
Tyler inhaled to replace all the air he’d let out in the rush of words. Then he tugged at his bottom lip with his teeth. “And Raif… I don’t know how I feel about him. And I blame you guys.”I blame us too,” Scott held up the bottle in cheers before tipping it to his lips. After he swallowed, he held the bottle with both hands and grinned at Tyler. “We’ve corrupted you. You see how good we’ve got it, just loving who we love, not giving a shit what anyone thinks.” Luke rolled his eyes and bumped Tyler’s knee with his fist. “It’s the drunk voice of reason. Listen up.” Tyler shook his head. “But that’s it. I’m not like you guys. I’ve never tried anything with a—never wanted to…” He groaned when Scott and Luke just stared at him, waiting. “He’s a boy!”Raif’s a man, Tyler. And you’re a man. And you don’t think men should do stuff.” Luke sighed. “You don’t know what you’re missing.”And the last person you should be starting with is Raif.” Scott’s tone grew bitter as he glared at the wall. “I don’t trust him.”Me neither.” Luke’s lips twisted like he was thinking hard. “We started angel boy’s corruption. We should finish it.” Ha! Like I can get any worse.Tyler hung his head, remembering how mad he’d made Chicklet. Well, maybe not mad. Disappointed. And not because he’d played after getting hurt, but because he’d made a decision and then acted like he couldn’t take two steps without her waving pom-poms at him. Laura was Chicklet’s slave and she needed Chicklet taking away all her choices when she wasn’t at work. From the clothes she wore to what she ate. He and Chicklet had talked once about whether he needed something like that and the answer had been a great big “No.” He didn’t want to be a slave and he wasn’t a kid. Maybe that’s what he could do to make Chicklet proud of him. Prove it. He looked at Scott, then shook his head. “Scott’s having enough trouble with Raif and Pearce. He can’t be finishing anything.”I agree.” Luke’s eyes drifted shut and his lips slanted in a sleepy smile. “Guess I gotta do it.” Might as well just go for it. Tyler wet his lips with his tongue and leaned over Luke. Took a deep breath and tried to hear Chicklet’s voice. But that was the problem, wasn’t it? He wouldn’t prove nothin’ by asking her what he should do, even if it was in his own damn head. She encouraged him to try new things. The way their relationship was set up, he had a green light for just about anything. So long as it didn’t change how he served her. And this wouldn’t. This would just…just clear things up. He moved so fast his lips slammed down on Luke’s. Hurt a bit. Then a lot more when Luke shoved him off and his back hit the pavement. What the fuck, Tyler?” Luke’s tone was sharp. He slapped his hand on the center of Tyler’s chest before Tyler could sit up. Cocked his head as Tyler gaped up at him. A devious smile spread across his lips. “If you’re gonna kiss me, wanna make it less like a punch in the mouth?”Uh…sorry?” Tyler couldn’t tell whether or not Luke was pissed about the kiss. He didn’t look it. Actually, he looked a little scary. Tyler swallowed. “But I did it and, umm, didn’t do anything for me. I don’t like dudes.” That had both Scott and Luke laughing like freakin’ morons. He tried to push Luke off him. Dropped his head back and sighed heavily when Luke wouldn’t budge. Luke raked his fingers into Tyler’s curls, bending down, his eyes hooded. “If I didn’t know one kiss would make you think you were in love with my man, I’d ask Seb to do this. Tomorrow, we’ll both agree we were drunk and did some stupid shit. We’re just friends, right?” Right.” Tyler shivered, something about the way Luke held him, the way he spoke—if they were both wolves in a pack, Luke wouldn’t be the biggest or the strongest, but Tyler would be beneath him. And he could either bare his throat in submission or have it ripped out.Relax, kid. I ain’t gonna hurt you.” Luke traced Tyler’s bottom lip with his tongue. The liquor on his breath made Tyler’s head spin. He opened his mouth to the kiss, shaking hard as Luke’s tongue touched his, not sure whether he wanted more but pretty damn sure he didn’t want to stop. Chapter One

Lawrence admired the amber and gold music box on the parlor mantle while he waited for Jocelyn to join him. A delicate golden elephant twirled as tinkling music floated through the air. The superb craftsmanship impressed even him, and he wondered which of her clients had gifted it to her.
Lawrence noticed Jocelyn’s energy brushing against him, reaching out to him, before he heard her steps on the stairs. Her aura enveloped him in its warmth, the strength of its touch bringing a smile to his lips. The approaching young woman was unaware of the magnificence of her energy. Her ignorance made her all the more attractive, as did the fact that she was his. He had taken her raw talents and molded her into his most successful courtesan.
“Lawrence, sorry to keep you waiting.”
“Not at all, my dear.” Lawrence kissed her on each cheek then held her at arm’s length. “You didn’t have to doll yourself up for me.” Jocelyn’s dark blue dress with black lace trim brought out the shine in her auburn hair. A simple blue ribbon with a golden, heart-shaped charm accentuated her slender neck.
A young maid entered with a tea service. Without having to be told, she served Lawrence a cup with two lumps of sugar and a little cream. After handing Jocelyn her cup, the girl left as quietly as she’d come.
“How is Anne faring?” Lawrence blew on his tea. The maid was new to Jocelyn’s service and hoped to someday be a courtesan.
“Well enough. I don’t know if she’ll make anything of herself, but she’s pretty.”
“You should know that it’s not the looks that make the girl.” Jocelyn was beautiful in her own way, but there were plenty of women more attractive than her at court. Her eyes were hazel instead of the more desired blue, she refused to cover her auburn hair with fashionable blonde dyes or wigs, and her bosom was smaller than most men preferred in their paid company. But appearance could only take a girl so far.
“She’s eager to learn, but she lacks patience.” Jocelyn took a sip of her tea.
“If she’s not suitable, we can find someone else. There’s no lack of girls wanting to learn from you.”Lawrence’s tea was sweet, but it didn’t sate his thirst. He would need a real drink once he left Jocelyn.
“Let’s give her some more time. I’ve grown used to her.”
Lawrence nodded. “How was your night with the Marquess of Buckingham?”
“George was wonderful, as always.”
She held something back. There was a way she held her mouth and eyes, as if trying to prevent her emotions from showing. It worked well on clients, but Lawrence wasn’t a client. A decade spent studying her as he’d raised and trained her had attuned him to her physical tics as well as her energy. “He offered to install you as his official mistress, didn’t he?”
Jocelyn sighed as she placed her teacup on the table and faced Lawrence. “Yes, he did.”
“And you weren’t going to tell me?”
“Why would I? I have no intention of accepting.”
Of course she didn’t. She would never give up her independence to anyone. Lawrence exclusively held her strings. “Still, I should think something that momentous would warrant at least a mention.”
“He knew what my answer would be. If I’d accepted, he would have lost interest. My refusal didn’t appear to dampen his affection. He’ll be here next Tuesday. I’m entertaining a few people to discuss The Pennylesse Pilgrimage by John Taylor.”
“Good. I’ll put it on the calendar. Now, why are you looking so desirable tonight?”
“I was thinking of going to King’s Head.”
“You don’t have to go looking for business at the inn, dear. You’re more than welcome to take the night off. You have a masquerade the day after tomorrow.” It was no surprise that she was eager to exert her independence after having it threatened. The Marquess was a good man who genuinely cared for Jocelyn. He might even love her. He would have seen his offer as security for Jocelyn, but she would only see it as another man trying to control her. She had Lawrence, and he had done a good job of convincing her he was all she would ever need.
“I know, but it’s fun. I promise I won’t overwork myself. You need to stop worrying, Lawrence. I’ll be fine. I enjoy the change of pace away from court.”
“Then have fun. You’ve earned it.”

•••

Lawrence licked Jane’s neck, his mouth watering in anticipation. A gentle pressure in his mouth released his fangs. The razor sharp teeth sank into Jane’s skin, releasing the warm flow of blood. Thicker than water, sweeter than wine, it slaked his thirst. The warmth brought life. Stolen life.
Lawrence released her neck. Jane was one of his favorite whores. While Jocelyn’s success afforded her a private residence, his other girls lived in the brothel, servicing the crowds Hampton Court Palace drew. Lawrence had his own home, but he was rarely there. He preferred to make use of his suite in the brothel, where he could keep an eye on his girls and the comings and goings. He didn’t mind Jocelyn’s independence. He wouldn’t dream of using her services himself. She was too important to him.
Lawrence kissed along Jane’s breasts until he reached the other side. As always, his victim was unaware of his actions. The venom in his fangs masked the pain. Jane would only feel a light pressure and sucking sensation. Nothing out of the ordinary in her line of work. He descended once again on her neck, taking a little more.
Once Jane finished him off, sating more than just his thirst, she swayed drowsily to her room. Lawrence rose. For him, a bed’s only purpose was fucking. He had not slept in more than two centuries. He sauntered to the bookshelf, trying not to think of what he couldn’t have. Selecting the most recent medical treatise, he situated himself in his worn armchair to read.
It took effort to concentrate on the words in front of him. Jocelyn was almost ready. He longed to feel her blood on his lips, sliding down his throat, to taste its tangy sweetness. But it wasn’t feeding he craved. No, the feeding would only be a precursor. She would be shocked by the truth of his existence, but he didn’t doubt she would join him. He would pour her blood back into her. Mixed with his venom, it would transform her into a vampire. His first daughter.
