Prologue
Eleven.
Not ten. Not twenty. Eleven.
Ever since I was a little girl, my mom would force me and my sister to list our resolutions at the end of the year. She’d tell us to fold them up and carry them in our pockets as a reminder, and to make sure that the last one (“lucky number eleven”) was the most important one of all.
I never understood the purpose behind those resolutions, and in the early years I’d do it just to make her shut up. I’d write things like, “Stop telling Mom that she gets on my nerves,” “Learn how to dropkick the boy who always pops my bra straps,” “Steal better snacks from the cafeteria at lunchtime.”
Yet, as the years passed and I entered high school, I started to take them a little more seriously: “Lose lots and lots of weight by the summer.” “Try to work on my writing every day.” “Stop trying to fit in so much and just be myself.” And I always looked forward to writing that number eleven. Although it was supposed to be a goal, mine was more like a dream: “Find a real life bad boy, make him fall in love with me, and live wild and carefree together for the rest of our lives.”
Unfortunately, I didn’t find him in high school—that “lots and lots of weight” took way too long to lose, and the lames that came shortly after were only interested in having sex.
Very, very bad sex.
My real life bad boy stormed into my life during my senior year of college, in the form of a sweet-talking, former womanizing, ultimate-alpha-male-sweetheart named Adrian Smith III. After preventing me from nearly walking into a moving bus, he told me I was “the sexiest woman [he’d] ever seen,” and the rest was history.
Our love affair was fast and frantic, uncontrollable and overwhelming; it was so reckless and volatile that it almost became an obsession.
I fell in love with him after only a few weeks, but I knew he was the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
He was my dream.
My number eleven.
After we graduated college—when things began to slow down and settle, we decided to stay together for the long haul. We had separate goals and aspirations, so we promised to strive for them while still hanging on to each other.
Unfortunately, that’s where the nice version of my story ended.
My life with Mr. Bad Boy became more of a tragedy than a love story, and at the end of last year I did something I hadn’t done in years…
I changed my number eleven.

Breathe Again by Rachel Brookes Cover Reveal- 1/28/14

For Savannah Rae, the thought of living in her picture-perfect world was almost too much to comprehend. With her dream job, a family she could finally call her own, and the beginnings of the best chapter of her life, she still couldn’t shake the unnerving feeling that it was all too good to be true.

The thought of a life without Savannah was incomprehensible to Tate Connors. Never in his wildest dreams did he think he would find his girl in the form of a sassy, stubborn, beautiful Australian. Finally he had the girl and life he so desperately wanted, but he still couldn’t ignore the fear that it would crash around him.

When Tate’s past becomes his present and Savannah’s present becomes her past, the possibility of a future together collides head-on with reality.

In her darkest days, the words Just Breathe provided a peaceful comfort to Savannah from the heavens above. Now as she and Tate go down the path of new beginnings, brutal endings, and the constant craving of a happily ever after, they are anxious to learn how to Breathe Again.

Rachel Brookes is from a coastal town on the east coast of Australia where beaches, kangaroos and surfers roam free. Writing angst ridden love stories with a pinch of craziness, a dash of drama, a cup of romance, a spoonful of sexiness and delicious men to season is what she loves to do. Rachel sometimes forgets to eat, sometimes forgets to sleep and sometimes can’t remember the last time she cleaned her apartment but that’s because she is in a long term relationship with her laptop.  When she does step away from her laptop she can be found taking too many photos, making scrumptious cocktails, laughing at Adam Sandler movies and spending her time with her amazing family. Having released Just Breathe and Breathless in 2013, Rachel is looking forward to a busy 2014 with the upcoming release of Breathe Again, the final book in The Breathe Series and many other books planned she can’t wait to continue this crazy ride.

Your Exception by Bria Starr Review

***5 star review***

Ok, what can I say about this book...
I loved it. It has fun, laughter, anticipation, heartbreak, sadness and happiness. I would recommend it! The epilogue was great too!!
I loved Wren, her description of herself made me wonder if she really saw herself that way, or if her heartbreak and arsehole of an ex made her feel that way. She was cheated on and even though she loved him, she did the right thing and left.

After moving in with her friend Cassidy, she started working a second job at a bar where she met Logan, a singer in a band. Her first job is in her dads shop, where she works with Zach, a good friend who is also in a band... Yes, we have two totally different guys in two different bands, we're spoilt!

Logan is your usual charmer who can melt the knickers off of any female within a ten mile radius, but he's also your typical smooth talker. He likes Wren and proves this when he pursues her, talks the talk, and makes her feel special. I liked Logan, but I was on the fence about him from the start. You will love him and then hate him... If you don't, then you have a higher tolerance for complete douchebags than I do! He is the worst kind of player. I wanted to ruin his man hood with a stiletto! I so badly wanted him to redeem himself!

Then there is Zach. He is kind, sweet, and a great friend... He's had his heart broken before and he's also in love with someone. Wren doesn't know who, but has an idea it's a girl from the bar. I instantly liked Zach and wanted to know more about him. Zach is the best friend you can want, he's protective and although he's in the background, you can't help but love him so much. From the get go I was wanting him to heal Wren's heartache, sweep her off her feet, and make her realise she IS loveable.

Do you believe people can change for the better?
Will Wren realise she is loveable?
And when you have a head-and-heart battle, what do you do?
In the end, it all comes down to that one exception. The one you're addicted to. The one you can't bear to be without. <3 Sarah

TAINTED REVIEW BY AMY

I loved the way this book was written.
The author shared with us Drakes time in rehab. It was nice to read what he went through. We got to learn all of his demons and how he had to face them. It was heartbreaking to see Drake face the loss of his parents even though it was years ago. He never truly dealt with it but what 10 yr old does?  He learned how to deal with his obsession and live a heathy life without the drugs.
The second part to the story was from Chloe's POV on how to learn to move on with drake after their heartbreaking time apart. She had to learn to love him wholly plus the fame side of their relationship. They were simply meant to be together.  I loved their wedding, it was super sweet what Drake did for Chloe.
The third part was their HEA, it was sweet as they both for what they wanted.

Book description:
Part One: Facing My Demons
Drake lost everything the day Chloe walked away from him. Feeling angry and hurt by her abandonment, he dives deeper into his cocaine use. Each day becomes a struggle for him. After his band is picked up by a recording studio in Los Angeles, things go from bad to worse. What happens to a man who has lost everything he ever truly cared about?
Part Two: Learning to Love Again
When Drake showed up on Chloe’s doorstep, begging for forgiveness, she couldn’t turn him away. To Chloe, loving Drake is like breathing and she couldn’t bring herself to let him go again.
But what happens next? Follow Chloe and Drake as they learn to forgive and heal together.
Will Drake’s fame get in the way of their happily ever after? Or is love enough to keep them together?
The epic conclusion to Drake and Chloe’s story.

Freeing Alex by Sarah Elizabeth Ashley Review

Freeing Alex Review

Alex is in a extremely abusive marriage for many years but finally finds in herself to leave her monster of a husband. She takes her teenage daughter with her and their new life begins.

In the space of a short time Alex leaves her abusive husband, her Aunt dies and her estate is left to Alex. She meets James Aconi who is the manager of her hotel and also very sexy playboy.
The connection is there early, she feels wanted by James but after years of abuse she holds back.
As the weeks pass Alex and James grow close as does their attraction.
Alex's soon-to-be ex-husband turns up and hurts Alex once again. There are many twists in this book and it keeps you hooked.
The author also made me feel like there was an underlying issue with James, I'm not sure if that was her intention but I'm glad she proved me wrong. :)
I'm looking forward to reading the 2nd book. <3 Amy

Synopsis

The first book in the series is Freeing Alex, a brief synopsis is given below:

A tale of heartache, escape, strength and freedom.  Of compassion, friendship and lust.
Alex Drake is a 42 year old lady trapped in an abusive, neglectful marriage to a controlling husband, in her heart she knows she should leave but for the sake of her daughter she stays and puts up with her husband’s abhorrent behavior.
Out of the blue her life is transformed as she becomes the sole heir to a huge legacy, an estate that includes millions in the bank, property in and around London and Reid’s hotel, a prestigious five star establishment.  It is here that she meets the super-sexy General Manager, James Aconi, a man some ten years her junior.
Alex, desperate for love and attention feels attracted to James from the first meeting, the feelings are in fact mutual and a friendship develops.  The once playboy ditches his past and focuses his attention towards Alex.  She soon confides her darkest secrets to him, scars both physical and mental, from her past, this only brings them closer and they soon become lovers, he in turn introduces her to everything that a complete and fulfilled relationship should be, including his fetish for strawberries!  He showers her with the love and affection that she craves, as well as protecting her and supporting her through the trauma of divorce as her soon to be ex-husband refuses togive up, drawn to the wealth that she now has.
Alex's story is an uphill battle and uncovers a strong woman beneath the battered exterior, a woman who craves basic love and affection which she never received from her husband, who has some skeletons buried deep within his ‘cupboard’, these are discovered in Part Two (Loving Alex).

Pieces of Perfect by Elizabeth Hayley Review

We are instantly thrown in to meeting a hot, bad boy looking stranger with a panty dropping voice, to who Lily gives as as good as she gets, throwing wit at him and leaving him with the parting words "I have absolutely no interest in fucking you." .... Yeah, those famous last words! And let me tell you, when it happens, oh does it happen good!

I loved Lily's attitude at the start of the book, but there was times I wanted to shake her and tell her calm down on the horny thoughts! I know Max is hot, so it's forgivable that she's thinking about him, but it just felt like that was all she thought about at times. A few of the comments about the students in her class were a little off putting from both her Max's characters, but that didn't make them unlikeable or ruin the story for me.

Enter the love triangle... She agrees to sex and friendship with one of them, but meets the other for a 'friendly' coffee the next morning. A couple of days later, she's 'pleasing' the friends with benefits one, but then I turn the page and it's a new day, the day she's going out on a 'real date' with the 'friendly coffee' guy... It's about to get messy!!!
Max is the bad boy looking ex-professional Hockey Player with a panty dropping voice. He has the right amount of cockiness and an excellent knack for getting what he wants. After meeting him again when he returns in the book, I straight away thought he was perfect for fun and maybe more- but my gut instinct told me that Lily would get hurt by him.
Adam is a single dad to one of her students. He's gorgeous, thoughtful, attentive and has a sense of humour. Upon meeting him, I instantly felt he was the sensible one, the stable one, the "safe option" for Lily, but because of her thoughts about Max and the affects he has on her, my gut instinct told me that Adam was going to get hurt by her. Was I right?  I'm not going to tell you, but I can tell you that there were times I had even flipped teams and I wished at one point that they would both walk away from her!

It took me a while to connect with the characters, but when I did, I was looking forward to seeing what came next from them. The encounters with both men were very different. With Max it's hot, spontaneous and dirty. Just what you want with someone you're drawn to, addicted to and have more in common than you realise, even if they aren't the person you could see a settled future with.
With Adam it's meaningful, sexy and consuming. Just what you want with someone you feel connected to, physically, emotionally and who can give you the future any girl would dream of.
How the hell is a girl suppose to choose?

I loved the arguments, sentimental moments, fun and intensity of this book. Towards the end, I was holding my breath, shouting "oh my God" and thinking karma really does bite you hard! Lily's journey of finding her, and ending up with only pieces of perfect was great. The situations and the way she saw things in the end, are exactly how things are- not just in the fictional world, but in the real world too; you really can't have everything you want, and when you try to get it, you take the risk of ending up with nothing. I'm looking forward to the sequel, to see where the story goes! 4 Stars. <3 Sarah

About the Author:

Elizabeth Hayley is actually "Elizabeth" and "Hayley," two friends who love reading romance novels to obsessive levels. This mutual love prompted them to put their English degrees to good use by penning their own. The product is Pieces of Perfect, their debut novel. They learned a ton about one another through the process, like how they clearly share a brain and have a persistent need to text each other constantly (much to their husbands' chagrin). They are currently working on a novel centered around Lily's roommate Amanda, and have plans to resume Lily's story in a sequel to Pieces of Perfect. "Elizabeth" lives with her husband, one and a half year old daughter and nutjob of a dog. "Hayley" lives with her husband and her own crazy dog. They are hoping to adopt a newborn soon. Elizabeth Hayley's writing motto is best captured by the words of Patrick Dennis: "I always start with a clean piece of paper and a dirty mind.

“Jessi, I need your help with something.”
"Oh that's rich Nate. Really nice. Why would I ever want to help you? You were the one who left me, remember?"
"It's just one little favor. It'll be done by the end of weekend, and then you will never have to see me again. I promise."
"Look buddy, you need to get out of my room before I call security. I don't think you can sweet talk them into letting you stay."
"How are you going to do that? You are in a bathtub and your phone is conveniently located in my back pocket." She thought for a moment about what was behind that back pocket and how nice it would be to just sneak a quick squeeze before she banished the thought.
"Honestly Nathan. What is this favor you need?"
"I'll tell you tonight over dinner."
She dunked down into the bathtub muttering to herself. Dinner? Not a good idea. Not with him. She might do something stupid. Like jump him from over the table, or hit him over the head with a plate! Coming back up she slicked her hair back then gave him a killer look.
"Where is my towel?"
"Oh...I don't know. I probably picked it up and put it back in the bathroom. Couldn't let you get away without me getting what I want now could I?"
He gave her a smug grin then quickly felt it melting off his face as she suddenly raised herself out of the tub, hot water and bubbles sliding down her naked form. She stepped from the water as he jumped up and off the edge of the bed. He hadn't expected that move from her. And oh boy, what a move... she was completely grown up now. Lush curves in just the right spots rounded out ever so slightly, where a coltish twenty two year old figure had once lived.
She slid up to him with an impish look on her face, wearing nothing but a few lingering bubbles. She got real close, the steam rising from her breasts to hit him right in the face, more painful than the earlier slap he had received. Sliding her hands up his chest he inhaled raggedly, then said in a small voice that was horse with longing, "Please don't knee me again. I don't think I'd survive it." She slid her hands around to his back.
"Oh, there's only one thing I want from you right now, stud." Her voice was low and seductive while the scent of her, woman and something earthy and exotic wafted up to him as he inhaled quickly, trying to keep a grip on himself, not to mention control over his suddenly raging body that was making him feel like some untried teenager faced with Mrs. Robinson.
"And what's that?" He barely chocked out. Had he actually squeaked on that last note?!? How long ago had he last done that?
She boldly placed both hands squarely on his gorgeous derriere, and squeezed, causing his knees to begin shaking. Jessi began shaking as well, from anger. “My phone. You lied. Where is it!?”
“In the back pocket… of my dress pants.”
“Arg!” She pulled her hands reluctantly off his tush but couldn’t help a quick smack. she walked away towards the bathroom leaving him in a puddle of lust and nerve endings. She walked towards the bathroom, leaving him in a puddle of lust and nerve endings, before calling over her shoulder as he held his breath. "Fine. You win this round. Pick me up in two hours.” The door shut behind her leaving a scent of temptation that Nathan broke from with a fair amount of difficulty. He figured he'd take the ice bucket with him back to his room. It would be the perfect end to the cold shower he was in serious need of.
