  Phoebe Fairchild didn’t have a great first year of college. In fact, it stunk! She realized she’d chosen a major, Physics, that didn’t suit her. And worse than that, a boyfriend who was a first-class jerk.

With a little assistance from her mother’s friend, Jack Stevens, Phoebe worked a transfer to NYU and an internship at a major TV network.
Phoebe moved into her mother’s old apartment and, with her super sexy neighbor, Kevin Parker, figured out The Big Apple. But the biggest challenge was be her internship assignment: Personal Assistant to mega star, Chase Smythe. Since she was nine years old, Phoebe had been starry-eyed for the blond haired, blue eyed actor. Her room had been practically wallpapered in Chase Smythe pullouts from the teen magazines.

 But Chase Smythe wasn’t the charming, sexy actor on TV and in the movies he starred in, or how he behaved in interviews. No. Seemed that over the years, stardom had jaded him. In real life, Chase was full of himself, lazy and left a path of destruction in his wake that had been well concealed by his former ‘handlers.’ Now it was Phoebe’s job to rein him in.

 Nonetheless, there is a spark. Phoebe was warned to not cave into his charms, as fake as they are, but there’s more than just his charm. There’s chemistry. Is it real? Or is it an act? Will Chase let Phoebe in to see the real person, not the just TV personality?

The long story:
I've always been a creative sort of person... I started with my college studies in Advertising Design and Illustration. I'm good at drawing and coming up with clever ideas.
As for story telling - well, that's where I have the most fun!  Ditching The Dream is my first novel, but I've been working on writing movies since, what seems like forever. Way back in high school my friend Aimee and I started writing a movie and I was hooked. We didn't know what we were doing, but we loved coming up with the story. I also like to come up with stories about people I don't know. Like the guy that cut me off on the expressway...He had quite a story - at least in my mind! Who knows? Maybe I've come up with a story about you! ;)

Ditching The Dream is a story that came to me while I was helping two author friends of mine. I was helping them with their books and I would make suggestions to amp up their stories along the way. Bev and Amy encouraged me to write my own story and Ditching The Dream was born.  Is it auto-biographical? No, not in the least. But it sure has been a fun story to come up with (especially when my hubby gets involved with coming up with ideas).

Ruthless People Review

This book rocked my world and is worthy of 5 fan-freakin-tastic stars in my eyes! I absolutely loved every chapter. It had drama, sex, love, loss, excitement, humor, and suspense… it was awesome. This was a one day, can’t put the book down, read for me! 

Liam Callahan and Melody “Mel” Giovanni --- the “Ceann na Conaitre” and the “Boss” --- the Irish and the Italian… arranged in marriage to merge their families. This is not your typical love story of bad-boy meets starry-eyed girl and changes to be a better person so they can live happily-ever after with rainbows and butterflies… no, this is a story of two bada$$, gun totting, killing machine, heads of the family, mafia babies that are arranged in marriage by their fathers to bring their families together for total control of the east and west… Romeo and Juliet, eat your hearts out. There is a new King and Queen, if they don’t kill each other first. 

Liam captivated me from chapter one. He’s ready to take his place as the leader of the family and all he has to do is marry the woman his father has chosen for him, you know, a step ford wife to stand by his side. Mel is my new woman crush; (probably because she kind of scares me, but she is so awesome) she’s the boss in her family (literally) and is not going to let a man, not even her new husband, get in her way of total domination. Throw in some crazy Irish siblings, step ford wife sister-in-laws, a crazy Russian mafia family out for blood, and a police commissioner who thinks he can change the world… It’s a chaos and I loved every minute of it. 

JJ McAvoy definitely knows how to keep her readers entertained and guessing. I can’t wait to see what she has in store next for these “Ruthless People”. Please hurry…. 

I go to the front of the house and take the four creaky steps that lead to the front door.
I knock twice and step to the side of the heavy wooden entry that’s been covered by a sheer flimsy security door.
The big solid wood creaks open, and the first thing I see is a double-barrel pointing at my face.
My heart instantly reacts and picks up pace as it starts thumping so hard I can hear it in my ears, just pounding a strong rhythmic unyielding beat.
The hair on the back of my neck stands to attention with an alluring anticipation and excitement.
My blood hastily boils and pumps hard touching every nerve ending in my body.
My throat completely dries and it becomes difficult to swallow the huge lump sitting at the base.
Not because I’m staring down a double-barrel.
Not from sheer terror of the possibility of death.
Not for any logical reason.
My body reacts because I’m fucking turned on.

20140703-111739-40659135.jpgtag15I don't do 'normal'. I've found that the more I write, the more I like being different to other authors. I write in first person, and I love to challenge a reader. I take the normal and switch it around. For me, I really enjoy getting a reaction from a reader. So if I can evoke an emotion (regardless of if it's the emotion the reader wants) then I figure that I've done my job as an author I want to be. I really quite revel in taking people out of their comfort zones and pushing them to read something different. My genre of writing is, well quite frankly, where ever my mind goes. I won't label myself because I don't like sticking to one genre. My goal with writing is just to take people away from whatever is going on in their lives, even if it's only for a split second. I'm a go with the flow sort of person and don't really take a course of action to get where I am going. I live in the moment and don't usually worry about tomorrow because whatever life is due to bring me, I'll be happy to accept. I love my family and friends and will help anyway I can if someone needs it. I really don't like people that are nasty just because they can be, I don't believe that's necessary, I mean life's hard enough as it is! I hope you enjoy my books, I've had a hoot writing them. After a few seconds, a strange sensation started spreading through my body. I lifted my eyes from the photos and my heart stopped. The blood drained from my face and I was pretty certain I was going to pass out. Ink boy was standing not three feet away from me. He had that perfect, sexy grin on his face and he was obviously happy to find me here. ''Are you stalking me now, princess?'' ''Princess?'' I repeated, with a quirk of my eyebrow. ''I know, I know. Geez, I’m sorry. What are you doing here...? Phoenix?'' he asked in an alluring voice. The sound of his voice was so different here, without the club music pulsing in the background. ''What do you think I'm here for, Levi?'' ''Are you always so feisty?'' His voice sent shivers all over my body. I nodded. ''My turn to say sorry - I never know how to act around you. You’re so... different.'' ''Different? Is that all?'' he asked cockily, his lips turning up in that damn smirk. ''You have the worst pickup lines I've ever heard.'' I tried very hard not to, but I smiled for a split-second. It didn't matter that I tried to suppress it - he saw me. ''Was that a smile I saw on your lips?'' he grinned, stepping closer. ''What do you want from me?'' I asked. Why did we pick this shop? Of all the tattoo shops we could have gone to, we had to pick the one place where he hung out? What were the odds? ''You're the one who's here, in my shop, so I should be asking you what you want. Are you here for a tattoo?'' ''They're all here for a tattoo. Stop harassing my client, jackass.'' The tattoo artist who was prepping Bekka turned to grumble at Levi. Irritated, Levi looked at the tattoo artist. ''No,” he began, shaking his head. “This one is mine, Kyle. I’ll be the only one marking her.'' Levi turned back to me. ''What are you getting tonight? I’ll be taking care of you.'' I thought my heart was going to pound out of my chest. ''A star. A pink star. He has the design,” I said, my voice trembling slightly, as I nodded toward Kyle. He marched over to Kyle, got the design, and looked at me again. He seemed disappointed. ''Well, I was hoping for something a bit bigger. It’ll only take fifteen to twenty minutes. Are you a virgin?'' What? Was he seriously asking me such a private question in the middle of a shop? ''Hummm...'' ''Tattoo virgin, I meant. Have you ever had a tattoo before, Phoenix?'' he asked, obviously amused by my flushed face. I shook my head and he glanced down at the design again. ''Are you sure you don’t want your star to be filled in with red? It kind of suits your skin.'' I shook my head, not certain I wanted him doing my tattoo. I didn’t want to know the artist. It would be a lot easier, a lot less intimate, a lot less personal. Not that I knew Levi well, but I was nervous around him, and factoring in the location of where I wanted the tattoo – my nerves reached an all-time high. ''Are you sure you don’t want something a little bigger? It’s a pretty small tattoo.'' ''It's the only tattoo I’m ever going to get and I don't want it any bigger. This is perfect.'' ''We’ll see about that. Where do you want it?'' he asked, his eyes roaming across my body. I pointed to the exact spot where I wanted the tattoo, my eyes never leaving his. Being so close to him was challenging, my stomach was filled with butterflies and the need to touch him and get a closer look at his ink was driving me crazy. His gaze lowered to where I was pointing, a position just about my pubic bone. ''Okay, I see,” his voice husky. “You’ll have to lower your pants or I’ll get ink all over them.'' ''Don't worry about it. It's alright.'' I wanted to shake my head at my own stupidity. I’d already admitted he made me nervous, I didn’t need to sound like such an idiot! He smiled and it’s beauty surprised me - it was like seeing him for the first time. This was a glimpse of the real Levi – not the tatted up bad boy with cheap pickup lines. My cheeks grew hot as I blushed at this latest discovery. ''Are you ready?'' He offered me his hand and I took it, not knowing why, but I did. It was almost an involuntary reaction. Val was sitting next to Bekka and they both stared at us in disbelief, their gaze taking in our joined hands. This wasn’t normal behaviour for me and both of my friends knew it. He led me to his work area. ''I’m Levi, by the way.'' ''I know, you told me your name last night. I'm Nix.'' ''I know. You can sit down here and lower your pants for me. Don't worry, I’ll be gentle.'' He was trying to hide a smile, but I wasn't stupid. I knew there was a double meaning behind his words and his smirk was due in part to my obvious discomfort.

I don’t know what to make of this, but Hailey still has wide eyes, and she hasn’t spoken. “Hails? You okay? That wasn’t your fault, you know. That was just…just crazy weird. I don’t know what it was, but it definitely was not your fault. You’re okay, right?” It’s quiet for a couple minutes and then she says quietly, “I have a dark aura.”
