I wasn't sure what to expect from this debut from a fitness/cover model paired with an author I respect and whose books are on my TBR list but had never read before. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. SR Watson and Shawn Dawson work well together in this series, giving life and individuality to the characters they each wrote. You see a little of Shawn in Diesel- confident, self aware, somewhat cocky and controlling but with a softer side he only shows a limited amount of people. In Lourdes you can see some of SR Watson's fiery personality, sexy & mysterious side and the two of them together is a very compatible match. At times I felt their chemistry was a little off but once you read the entire book, that comes to make sense. I also hate cliffhangers while also loving what they do to me emotionally, so I was torn at that ending. LOL!
I took issue with the way some of the scenes played out- I don't think a person with Lourdes' background would do what she did in the supply closet or move so quickly from recluse in a shell behind big clothes to a completely exposed free spirit, but all people are different, all people handle different situations in different ways, so again, a little torn on how to take that....
I loved her relationship with her best friend and how quick she was to put people in their place when she did not like them or what they did/said to her. Every book needs a little comedy to offset the heavy moments and this books delivers that with the dialogue when needed between the characters throughout.
All in all, this was a page turning read that kept me interested until the end, had some editing issues I was told would be corrected before publish so do not reflect my review herein any way. Because of a few rocky spots but it being an overall great read for anyone looking for a hot rock star read, with twists, turns, drama, some sad and heartbreaking moments and a hell of a cliffhanger ending that will make you beg the author to release book two ASAP so you can see where this story leads next, I give SIN 4 stars and look forward to books two and three from these two. ~ Kellie, Eye Candy Bookstore
S.R. Watson is a Texas native who resides in Houston with her husband and four children. She is an operating room nurse who has evolved into an author of Erotica and New Adult. She grew up reading the Sweet Valley Series (Twins, High, & University) among others. Back then she would use notebook paper to create stories and cut pictures out of her mother's JC Penney catalogs for the characters she wanted to portray. She ventured away from reading and writing stories when she left home for college to pursue her BSN and then MBA, but picked up reading again in 2012. Her love for the stories written by her favorite indie authors made her decide to pursue own dreams of writing. Her Forbidden Trilogy was her debut release. She looks forward to sharing her writing journey with everyone.
When S.R. Watson is not writing, she likes to read, listen to various genres of music, make handmade natural soap, and travel. She is down to earth, loves a nice glass of wine, and is addicted to watching the television series Scandal.
Shawn Dawson is an Illinois native who resides in Elgin. He has always been an athlete which has led to many achievements. He is currently a sponsored athlete for Flex Till You're Famous and Buff Bake as well as the brand ambassador of GDD World underwear. He is also a published cover model for fifteen books with more to release. His newest journey has taken him on a different path to pursue writing. He is making his debut as an author along side S.R. Watson with Sex in Numbers. It is book one in the S.I.N. Rock Star Trilogy.
When Shawn is not writing, he enjoys spending time with his fur baby Camden, playing his Xbox, working out, and helping to change the lives of his online clients through coaching.
