| I liked this book more than I expected it to because in all honesty, I am not a huge sports romance fan. I love LP Dover books though, so said I was going to read this one with an open mind and am glad I did. The reason I enjoyed it, sports and all, is because it really is not a sports romance per say. While Kellan is a hockey player and there are some elements of that in the book, it is more focused on the relationship between him and Kristen and her toxic past relationship than the sports aspect. The chemistry between the characters was good but felt like it could have had more heat, but that did not deter from the story enough to deduct any stars and I also felt that although books are our escape and the fantasy we wished we lived, I also enjoy when they are more true to life and I felt that is what this book delivered in the form of the level of "heat" between Kellen and Kristen. I also felt that the suspense aspect of the story kept you interested in what was coming next, which is important for me when reading because I lose interest rather quickly when books are all sex and no substance. I found this book to be enjoyable, emotional, with dashes of heat, humor and mystery so for being the well rounded awesomeness that it was, I gave it 5 stars and a recommendation to read it now! ~ Kellie, Eye Candy Bookstore |
